Smoked Ribs

I absolutely love smoking ribs!! At first when I first started smoking meats I was very intimidated. It took a few test runs of what seasonings to use, what tastes the best and how long do I smoke the ribs for. Very simple ingredients are all you need because the meat and the smoke will provide all the flavor you need. The best smoking time I use is the 321 method. 3 hours of smoking in your smoker, 2 hours wrapped in your oven or in the smoker and lastly 1 hour back on smoker basting your favorite bbq sauce if you like your ribs with bbq sauce. Most times I will skip the last hour method. I just love doing a basic dry rub then dipping my ribs in bbq sauce. Whatever your preference is. Also found that sometimes in the last hour back on the smoker ribs will dry out and we don’t want that! Check out my recipe below! 🙂

Ingredients:

  • 2 Tablespoons coarse sea salt
  • 2 Tablespoons coarse black pepper
  • 1 Tablespoon onion powder
  • 1 Tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1 Tablespoon smoked paprika
  • 2 teaspoons cayenne

Mix all the seasoning together then rub all over the ribs front and back. Once your smoker is ready and set at 225 degrees. Place your ribs on the rack, smoke for three hours, don’t open the smoker. I also will have a small baking tin filled with water placed in the smoker and I’ll throw in some onions to keep the smoker moist.

Once you’re done smoking the ribs for three hours pull the ribs out of the smoker and wrap your ribs meat side down on the tin foil and wrap tightly. Place the ribs meat side down so the ribs do not rip your foil. Place in the oven at 250 degrees on a baking sheet for two hours or back on your smoker whatever your preference. 

You can either skip the last hour method of placing the ribs uncovered back on the smoker if you like to baste your ribs with your favorite bbq sauce.This is such an easy recipe your whole family will love or friends for a fun cookout.
